Gladius was one Latin word for sword and is used to represent the primary sword of Ancient Roman foot soldiers. Early ancient Roman swords were similar to those used by the Greeks. From the 3rd century BC, the Romans adopted swords similar to those used by the Celtiberians and others during the early part of the conquest of Spain. This sword was known as the Gladius Hispaniensis.

The Roman Gladius sword from Dragon Reborn is held safely inside a metal and leather sheath. The sword has engraved lines down the center of the blade coming to a point just before the blades pointed tip.

The handle is made of a stainless steel grip with wooden pommel and guide, finished with a metal point at the end of the pommel (bottom pf the handle). The sheath entrance has a metal edge with an image of a group of roman's. At the side are 2 rings to be attacked to string or a belt.

The tip of the sheath is also finished off with a metal plating with an image of an armored roman in front of a building. As mentioned earlier, here is a clearer view of the metal tip on the end of the pommel (swords handle).
